Anne Mukuria is a Kenyan woman, coming from a community where people weave most of their lives to support the little income they get from our agricultural activities. She grew up seeing her grandmother weaving.
That is the reason why she took up the opportunity to market the most common activity of her community, weaving, and created the community-based group, Wengo, gathering around 30 women.
Through inter-tribal marriages, these women learn and share the craft of weaving among themselves, as different tribes and communities have different and unique styles of weaving. Through these learning experiences, Anne managed to forge a unique team of women who strive to make a difference in their lives and families through weaving.
