DISCOVER THE KELEN ARTISTS !
Born in 1987, Raymond Yves Kono lives and works in Yaoundé, Cameroon. From the age of 7 he became interested in drawing, reproducing images he saw on television or in comic books.
From 2010, he took courses at the University of Yaoundé 1, and began to familiarize himself with the notions of plastic arts, visual arts, contemporary arts and at the same time continued training in screen printing. Thanks to his curious spirit and his dynamism, he began to rub shoulders with artists and to seek workshops in the field of the arts.
From 2017, he presents his paintings in numerous national and international collective exhibitions. Currently, Yves explores other media, including video art, installation, comics. Attracted by ''Free Figuration'', he presents works that are at odds with public expectations through his half-man, half-skeleton characters with upturned heads, which he calls ''Ntshi-Ntshim'' (in the Eton language, meaning Spirit).
In 2019, he was selected to represent Cameroon at the International Biennial of Naive Arts in Abidjan (BINA 2020).
