ALIDA YMELE

Born in 1994 in Cameroon, Alida Ymele is an artist who lives and works in Douala. She obtained in 2019 a professional Master in Plastic Arts at the Institute of Fine Arts of Nkongsamba (University of Douala).
His artistic practice explores the precariousness, the fragility of the human being and the socio-professional universe of the daily life of domestic women, as well as their difficulty integrating into today's society. Alida expresses herself through her self-portraits, staging in photos and images of women that she photographs in particular postures, in order to magnify these "black queens" who assert themselves in the so-called small trades.
Ymele has also participated in numerous group exhibitions including (non-exhaustive list):
"Artistic interferences" - Annie Kadji Gallery (Douala,
2020 and 2021),Sonsbeek to Arnhem ( Netherlands, 2021),
"Woman Power" - Bandjoun Station (Cameroon, 2018),
"New Spirit" - Paradise ( Douala, 2019).
Her artistic practice is a permanent exploration that revolves around the daily life of domestic woman.
