Originally from Senegal, Malick Welli is a contemporary photographer. After studying management and administration, he embarked on self-taught photography in 2012. Fascinated by the interactions between individuals and their own culture, he perfected his art around the portrait, in an artistic approach that positions the human at the heart of his work. His sensitive and socio-anthropological gaze on society sharpens and he tackles themes that lead to reflection, to questioning, on the place of human beings in society.
His series "Journal of a return to the native village" was exhibited at the Hotel Le Djolof during the Off of the 2016 Dakar Biennale. Malick Welli, the "Photodidact", is now moving towards studio and documentary photography .
